If you’re looking to tone your abs, there are a few key exercises you should add to your workout routine.

First, start with a basic crunch. Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands behind your head, and lift your torso up so that your lower back is off the floor. Exhale as you curl up, and hold for a count of one. Inhale as you release back down to the starting position.

Next, try a Pilates move called the double leg lift. Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands on the floor beside you. Exhale as you lift your legs up to a 90-degree angle, and hold for a count of one. Inhale as you lower your legs back down to the starting position.

For a more challenging move, try the hanging leg raise. Start by holding a pull-up bar with an overhand grip. Hang from the bar with your legs extended and your feet together. Exhale as you raise your legs up until they’re parallel to the floor, and hold for a count of one. Inhale as you lower your legs back down to the starting position.

Finally, no abs workout would be complete without a few planks. Start in a push-up position, with your feet hip-width apart and your hands directly beneath your shoulders. Exhale as you lower your hips down to the floor, and hold for a count of one. Be sure to keep your back flat and your abs engaged the entire time.

If you perform these exercises consistently, you’ll start to see results in no time. Remember to mix things up and keep your body guessing by adding new exercises to your routine as well.
